The Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and Medical Service (ORMS-SL) has donated twenty (20) pairs of crutches to the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD), in a gesture aimed at strengthening mobility support for persons with disabilities across Sierra Leone. The donation was made on 21 January 2026.

According to ORMS-SL, the initiative is intended to bolster independence and improve quality of life for persons with mobility impairments who rely on assistive devices for daily movement.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Commission, Ivanson A. Kargbo, Deputy Programs Manager, commended the organisation for its continued support to the disability community. “This donation is a significant contribution to our ongoing efforts to ensure that persons with disabilities have access to the mobility aids they need,” he said. “Partnerships like this are crucial in advancing rehabilitation services and promoting inclusion.”

The NCPD reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with institutions that share its mandate of enhancing dignity, rights, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities. “We remain committed to working with partners to uplift the well-being of persons with disabilities nationwide,” the Commission stated.
