MoSW and NCPD Engages OPDs in support of disabled community during rainy season

On Friday 15th August 2025, as the Minister of Social Welfare Melrose Karminity, accompanied by the newly appointed Chairman of the National Commission for Persons with Disability (NCPD) Brima Abdulia Sheriff, delivered bags of rice in solidarity and compassion, to bustling Help Empowerment Polio Organization (HEPO) home on Pademba Road.

The visit to the Help Empowerment Polio Organization (HEPO) home became a strong show of government support, as Social Welfare Minister Melrose Karminity and the new NCPD Chairman Brima Abdulia Sheriff delivered rice to persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting PWDs, especially during the rainy season when mobility becomes difficult. She emphasized that similar donations are happening nationwide and introduced the new NCPD Chairman, praising his lived experience and expertise in disability issues.

Chairman Sheriff expressed gratitude and outlined his mission to fully implement disability laws and strengthen the Commission to better address the complex needs of PWDs.

Caritas provided the rice, and the Ministry assured transparent distribution. HEPO leaders thanked the government for its consistent support and pledged continued collaboration with both the Ministry and the new Chairman.

The event underscored the government’s practical steps toward inclusion, demonstrating action not just words in supporting vulnerable groups.
